Tim Mahoney, Director of Education, Troon Golf

Tim Mahoney, Director of Education for Troon Golf Worldwide, has been teaching in the national and international arena for over 27 years, training all levels of players from beginners to professionals. His instruction philosophy: preparation is the key to success, a non-method approach, solid contact, progressive learning and impact. His commitment to helping golfers improve is evident in his involvement in many areas of the industry, including lecturing at teaching seminars, consulting in the development of computer software for golf swing analysis, and assisting in the development of learning centers and practice facilities worldwide. Tim has earned his accomplishments in instruction spending countless hours with amateurs and professional players wanting to improve.

Based at Talking Stick and Troon North golf clubs in Scottsdale, Arizona, Tim is currently rated as one of the country’s Top 100 teachers by both GOLF Magazine and Golf Digest. With 20 years teaching experience, Tim has enjoyed a career spiced with wisdom and theory garnered from such acclaimed instructors in the world of golf as Chuck Cook, Jim Flick, Davis Love Jr., Paul Runyan and Bob Toski. His impressive student roster includes Billy Mayfair, Danielle Ammaccapane and David Duval.

Tim is the creator of the Troon Golf Academy, Troon Golf Institute and the David Duval Golf Academy. Previously, he was a senior instructor with the world acclaimed Golf Digest schools for over 20 years. Tim has conducted over 3000 schools and outings. Tim is currently a member of the Golf Digest Top 50 Teachers along with the Golf Magazine Top 100 list. With over 150 editorial contributions including 7 cover stories for Golf Digest. He is featured on the Golf Channel “Golf Academy Live,” along with DVD’s “15 shots to save your golf game,” and Golf Magazine’s “Top 100 Tips.” His golf videos have been enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of golfers worldwide and he has appeared numerous times on the Golf Channel’s Golf Academy Live.

Doug Hammer, Director of Instruction, Talking Stick Golf Club and lead instuctor for the Troon Golf Academy locations in Scottsdale

Having taught at facilities in 8 different states and Japan, Doug Hammer brings a tremendous amount of experience to the lesson tee. He has conducted over 500 golf school programs at Troon Golf facilities around the world, and has a client roster consisting of beginners up to Mini-Tour players and top rated junior players. Doug's philosophy is simple and consistent, having taught with such top rated teachers as Tim Mahoney, and Mike and Sandy LaBauve. He feels that each student is unique, and works to find the best golf swing for each individual.
